OUR STORY

Who we are…

My name is Eddie and my wife’s name is Stacey. Our story is not unique, but it is special to us. Stacey and I met on the front steps of Landmark Church in Battleground, WA in 1978. She was 5 and I was 4. That’s where our story begins. My parents had moved from Coos Bay, OR to Battleground in 1977 to pastor Landmark, and Stacey’s family would begin attending in 1978. Stacey and I would grow up in church together, go to school together, and graduate together. We started dating as Juniors in High School and that would be the beginning of our life-long romance! After dating for almost three years, and having one year of college under my belt, these High School sweethearts were married on September 11th, 1993 in the same church we grew up in. We were so young (I was almost 19 and Stacey was 20!), but God has been so incredibly faithful. In September of 2025 we will celebrate 32 years of marriage! God has blessed us with 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren (number 6 is on the way!), and we have such close relationships with both our extended families. God has been so good to us and we are so thankful.

Our heart for ministry…

The best way to describe our heart for ministry is this: we believe that Jesus is the hope of the world. We believe strongly in the power of God’s Word and in the hope of the gospel. Jesus has always been and will always be the answer that humanity seeks, the Truth they try to find, and the life they never thought possible. We believe the message of the cross still changes people, and that the Holy Spirit is active and working in our day. We believe in the miraculous, that our lives matter to God and that He loves us and knows us. To love Him is to know Him, and knowing Him changes our lives! Our heart is to share that message of hope and to see that hope set people free. To see that hope transform families. To see that hope create a legacy of faith from generation to generation. We believe the cause of Christ matters! The following quote has shaped us for years:

“The greatness of a man is determined by the cause he lives for. The greater the cause, the greater the man. There is no cause greater than the cause of Christ.”

- Rev. Charles Blair

We say it this way: Love like Jesus. Live like that matters.

Our WA - MT journey…

This is a LONG story! You can read a portion of it here.

Our ministry history runs deep. I was raised in a pastor’s home and my wife’s dad, Jim, ran a Nursing Home ministry for our church when we were kids. Needless to say, we both spent a lot of time at church! Ministry for us has always been a family endeavor. My parents, Ed and Sherrel, began pastoring shortly after they were married and never looked back. In 1977 Battleground, WA would become their home and where they would raise their family. My parents have pastored Landmark Church for 48 years and remain the Senior Pastors there. I am a second generation pastor and an ordained minister with Grace International (GI) and have been part of this organization my whole life. My dad, mom, sister, and daughter in law all carry credentials with Grace, too! For over 30 years, my dad has been my pastor, my boss, my District Superintendent, and most importantly my friend and father. And for 30 years we have served alongside our family: my mom, my sister and her family, our own kids - we’ve all served together! It’s been a unique and wonderful experience that we are most grateful for.

I mentioned that Stacey and I grew up together. We also grew up in ministry together! While dating, we were volunteering as Assistant Youth Directors for Landmark Church doing all the things required of Youth Ministry! After getting married, and a brief season of ignoring God’s call to ministry, I had a powerful “come to Jesus moment” and in 1994 would obediently surrender and step into my calling and a life of ministry. In May of 1996 I would be hired, part-time, as the Youth Director. In May of 1999, I would be hired as Landmark’s full-time Youth Pastor. Stacey and I would serve in that capacity for many years until God began to adjust and refine our call as we sensed He was preparing us for a change. That change would be realized when my dad asked me to serve as his Associate Pastor in September of 2007. Stacey and I would serve as Landmark’s Associate Pastors until September, 2024. However, in January of 2022, God would begin stirring in us to prepare for another change, and that moment would be the starting point of our Washington to Montana story. That 2 1/2 year journey would take us through 4 US States and 7 specific cities as we carefully prayed about what our next step would be. We would soon discover that next step was being called to the Bitterroot Valley to plant a church. The burden we carried for 2 1/2 years gave birth to what is now, Legacy Church.

Over the years, Stacey and I have filled many ministry roles. We have carried the title of: Volunteer, Assistant Youth Director, Youth director, Youth Pastor, and Associate Pastor. We were Summer Camp Directors for Grace International’s NW Regional Summer Camps for 20+ years. Now, we have the privilege of being Lead Pastors of Legacy Church in Stevensville, MT. In addition to all that, I currently serve on the Northwest District Committee for Grace International, which oversees all our churches in WA/ID/MT/WY/AK. I also serve on the GI Board of Directors. We are Grace International through and through and remain deeply committed to our organization and are honored to be Grace International pastors.

It took us a little while to get here, but here we are.. And we are so glad God called us to Montana and the Bitterroot Valley!
